This method is adapted from CDM methods to reduce GHG emissions from manure management systems.
Gold Standard

Version 7.0
This method is applicable to grazing land but focuses on impacts to soil carbon. It quantifies reduction and removal of GHG emissions from changes toward more sustainable densities of grazing animals and frequency of prescribed fires.
Verified Carbon Standard

This is a proposed method that has not been formally adopted and is focused on quantifying emission reductions of beef cattle. The proposed additionality method is Brazil-specific.

This Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) tool provides a step-wise procedure for estimating GHG emissions attributable to the displacement of grazing animals due to the implementation of an afforestation/reforestation CDM project activity. The tool provides an annex with the default values for dry matter intake (DMI) and an equation for the calculation of DMI for livestock types. Further, it provides default values for annual net primary production (ANPP) by IPCC climate zones.
