Email PageThis methodology includes the capture and combustion of methane produced by the decomposition of manure from pigs in a biodigester. It provides incentives for piggery operators to use biodigesters instead of covered effluent lagoons. The benefit of collecting biogas is that it can be used to fuel boilers used to heat farrowing sheds as well as to generate renewable electricity that could be used on-site or sold back into the electricity grid.
